High-Tech Hunting Gear of 2015

While some hunters prefer to stick to whatever bare necessities they can stuff in their hunting pack, others like to head out to the field armed with a veritable arsenal of gadgetry to aid them in their hunt. These days, you don’t have to look too far to find the hunting gear of the future. In this entry, we’ll look at a few of our favorite 21st century hunting tools.

Scent Control Jacket

Last year, athletic wear manufacturer Under Armor released a jacket designed to insulate a hunter’s scent, rendering them undetectable to their prey. How does it work? A layer of antimicrobial silver locks in odors so they never reach the nostrils of nearby deer. Under Armor also offers a balaclava to accompany the jacket in cold conditions. A straightforward solution to an age-old problem.

Ozonics

Here we have another product that takes a somewhat different approach to odor control. This machine ionizes the oxygen molecules in the air around a hunter and then blows them downwind with a fan in order to conceal their scent from deer. Keep one of these gadgets tucked away in your deer blind, and rest easy knowing you’re not broadcasting your scent to every deer in the neighborhood.

Vendetta Bow Rangefinder

This rangefinder from Leupold mounts directly on a bow and provides hunters with a digital-display of their range that updates continuously in real-time. This rangefinder is a streamlined alternative to clumsy handheld options.

Burris Eliminator

The Burris eliminator integrates a rangefinder and ballistic calculator right into a rifle scope. Just pre-program the eliminator with information about your rifle and ammunition and it will do the rest. You can even give it wind speed calculations and it will automatically compensate accordingly.
